I actually got a break--a real live break--and it was awesome! On my whole week and a couple of days off of work I cleaned up a bit, shopped a bit, slept a lot, had loads of fun, and managed to even do some reading. And I checked my email like twice. It was amazing. A couple of times I had to really put forth some effort to prevent myself from feeling tempted to check email--it can get bad sometimes--but all in all, I did awesome.
Really, truly the only sort of bad thing that happened on the break was that my dog (a Chihuahua who is all of 5 lbs.) went flying off the sofa & landed on her back leg, which began to swell & appeared broken. She let out the most blood-curdling scream, and we rushed her to the emergency vet, fearing the worst. That was Christmas Eve. Turns out, though, after a 2.5 hour wait at the PetMed, and a hefty bill (the amount of which I'd rather not mention), we found out that it's not broken (*sigh of relief*) and she's getting around on it pretty well now. I also found out through all that that my dog is a little manipulative and had learned how to play on my weaknesses. I saw her on Saturday walking out of the kitchen and into the bedroom, and as she turned the corner, I noticed that she was walking on her hind leg again. Being filled with joy and excitement over her speedy recovery, I scooped her up & kissed her little face, telling her how awesome it was that she was feeling better & I was so happy to see her paw healing. Then I put her down & she was no longer able to walk on that hind leg. I'm pretty sure now that she was just trying to get some sympathy cheese out of me--and it worked. Crazy little dog...
If I were a rapper I'd write a lyric like "Get money, make cupcakes. Must be winter 'cuz I be frosting," and my pseudonym would be One-Zee.

Quirkiness
So, after I wrote that first post, I started really thinking about all my little quirks & idiosyncrasies, and one of them is that I like to have all of my clothes facing the same direction (front of the shirt facing left). It really freaks me out if one of them is - Heaven forbid! - facing right. It's very disconcerting & makes my morning a little more stressful if they're not right - I mean left... or whatever. No, I do not suffer from OCD. My eccentricities seldom disturb the function of my daily life. The lives of others, on the other hand, if they're not doing one of those silly things the way they should be done, well, that's another story...
This is MY Blog
So, I've come to the realization that everyone in the world has a blog but me. I don't think that's an exaggeration. So, this is my blog. I don't know what it's going to say yet, but here it is. Maybe I'll start with this - the address is aquirkaday.blogspot.com because that's one of the many words I frequently use when trying to explain my ways to people who don't get it: quirky. I am - through and through. And I like it. For example, sometimes I burst into laughter when I'm by myself (though within earshot of others), and it completely puzzles those around that I could be laughing at something that's happening internally & not externally. So, I don't bother explaining my outburst or the thought that provoked it most of the time because they wouldn't understand if I tried to describe in great detail that my chihuahua sometimes gets her top lip stuck on one side so that one tiny little tooth sticks out, almost making her look menacing. It's weird, I know, but that's probably what "they" think about me, and I'm totally cool with that. It gives me an edge over the rest of the cookie-cutter, sheeple world.
