It's official: The 612 Project is underway. I've committed to a blog-a-day during the month of June, and here it goes. I've considered, reflected, contemplated... written, invented, rehashed, and re-evaluated. This blog is a mere speck in the blogosphere, a tiny corner of the Internet, a large part of my life, and a huge piece of me. I'm feeling challenged and inspired... and inspired to challenge.
[Many thanks to George Carlin - {R.I.P.} - for the very clever
opening monologue that unexpectedly inspired the above ramblings.]
That said, there is nothing original under the sun, as they say... and this blog is just a glowing example of exactly that. So, you might not discover anything mind-blowing or revolutionary here, but hopefully you'll enjoy the recycled ideas I find amusing to toss around. If you're reading this, it's either because we're good friends, we've met at some point, you found my site through Facebook or Twitter, or you were no doubt doing a random Google search for a
mean face (seen in "
Midday Roadwork") or looking up
doodle bugs (seen in "
I am ME.") and landed on my humble blog. No matter the reason, here you are, and if you like reading what I write, then don't be shy... take a look around. There's no single theme here... this blog is up, it's down, it's serious, it's silly. The difference now is there will be - at most - only 24 hours between shifts... and this may prove to be an interesting experiment in just how fast you can lose readers...
Truthfully, this is a personal challenge to see if I can push myself to write more. We're going for quantity here, not quality... And I find comfort in the fact that others have completed similar - though much more challenging - tasks. Take for example my friends Jim & Puneet, who watched a movie and reviewed it every single day for AN ENTIRE YEAR. Yep - the
2 Guys 1 Movie a Day site's still up if you'd like to have a look-see. :) Just to put that in perspective, even if you discount the actual watching of the movie, that's 1/12th the work... or 8.3%. So 30 days shouldn't be all that tough to get through... right? Why am I still scared...
Maybe I'll find out that I really have a lot less to say than I sometimes think I do. Actually, I really have to
feel about something before I'll talk about it... but usually once I'm saying something, it means something...
So, dear people of real life and of the Internet, without further ado, here it goes... June 1 is in the bag. Tune in tomorrow for the next installment of
The 612 Project: 30 Days of Summer Reading Fun.
To be continued...
