The speed limit should be the same as the minimum speed, in my humble opinion. It is too irritating to me to know that I could be driving 45 MPH if it weren't for this person in front of me puttering along at a leisurely 30 MPH. Not to mention, it's dangerous because those people who are driving too slowly can cause an accident as easily as someone driving too fast. I'm sure these statements can be backed up by facts and research. So Google it.
We've all been guilty of it... but you know very well that when you see someone driving badly and then realize that the reason for this is that that driver is using his/her phone either talking or texting, it makes you fume inside. Yes, it's allegedly against the law to use one's phone while driving, but soooo many people do it that I think a sign to remind these drivers is in order.
For the last sign, I'd like to point out that while we have caution signs for lots of different wild animals (deer, bears, etc.), I've never seen a sign cautioning people to watch for poor little stray doggies. :(
Now, this last point doesn't have anything to do with a sign but rather a signal. The traffic signal, to be more specific. The problem with traffic signals is that THEY ARE STUPID. Traffic signals should definitely be more intuitive, with cameras and such. If they "see" that no one is coming from the green light direction and see that the red light people have been sitting in their cars waiting for minutes, the light should turn. It makes no sense for cars to be sitting there with no traffic coming from the opposite direction, waiting for a stupid, arbitrary red light to turn green. It's quite simple, really. Why haven't they thought of this yet? That's why I'm here I guess.
I thought of an awesome Sign today while stuck in traffic!
ReplyDelete"TRUCKS IN THE RIGHT LANE ONLY"! I was driving on a road with 4 lanes today and it was 4 SLOW f'n trucks wide! I dunno why they think they can all pass eachother.... stay in the bloody right lane please!! GRRRR
Hahaha! The funniest thing is that that sign exists & they completely ignore it still, smh.
DeleteSlightly related, I've always thought cars should have red break lights on the front too, so that if you're making a left, and the light is changing, you would know if they're breaking so you can make the turn faster.
ReplyDeleteThat is BRILLIANT.
